![]() The plot, the meetings held, the threatening letter, jumping the fence by parliamentarians and allies and a lot more constitute the grave tragedy which has befallen the country. But, no, they have the pelf to convince the courts to open shop even at midnight to do their bidding with other state institutions either fully complicit in enacting the criminal enterprise, or languishing by the side relishing the sordid drama. There is a deep sense of shame knowing that the country is going to be under the control of people who should be in jails instead as punishment for their myriad crimes. Mammoth crowds gathered to listen to Imran Khan as he stepped out to engage with people after being removed as the democratically-elected Prime Minister of the country under illegal, unconstitutional, immoral and dubious circumstances. A miniscule sample of this was visible at the public rallies held in Peshawar on April 13 and Karachi on April 16. It is not easy remaining unconcerned when one sees the country slipping into the grip of a coterie of convicts, absconders and alleged criminals facing criminal cases of multiple dimensions.īut there is one thing different this time which these people and their rabid sponsors have not been confronted with in the past: anger which is spilling over through every nook and corner of the country. The more I think about what has happened in the last few days, the more I am smitten with a sense of extreme agitation.
